Red, white, pink, bubbles… we say yes to any wine, but choosing the perfect vino for your wedding reception is no easy task. Don’t worry, we are here to help! Grab a glass of your favorite wine and check out our tips for choosing the varietals for your big day. If you do not read any further, remember this, you should always choose wines that you and your fiance like to drink. It is in fact, YOUR special day. Bottoms up! ????
When choosing most things for your wedding, the season plays a very important role, however, when it comes to wine, winter weddings don’t mean you have to serve only red wine, and summer weddings don’t mean you have to stick to white wines. Instead, you should focus on your menu. Most people are going to drink the type of wine they like, no matter what season it is or what the social norms are.
The Knot got some help from Eater Drinks editor Kat Odell on what type of wines pair best with which foods and we think this is a great place to start.
Chicken: Red or white wines that are on the medium to the lighter side.
Fish: Greek wines or other lighter mineral-y white wines.
Beef: A strong grenache or pinot noir.
Pork: Bolder white wine like a white burgundy.

You do not need to have multiple reds, multiple whites, and multiple sparkling options for people to choose from. Keep it simple by just picking one or two of each type.

There is nothing worse than running out of wine at a wedding, especially if you want people to stay on the dance floor ????. Our team will work with you to ensure this does not happen but a good rule of thumb is to order one bottle of wine per person.
For a wedding, it is best to serve all of the wine cold. White wine and champagne bottles should be kept on ice prior to serving. It is even a good idea to put red wine in the fridge for about 30 minutes before service. Red wine should be served at 55 degrees and white wine should be somewhere in the high 40s.
